Taste
Blanton's Original Single Barrel was the first Blanton's Bourbon created for Albert Blanton's family, friends, ambassadors, and dignitaries. The famous bourbon is made from barrels in the mid-sections of Warehouse H at the famous Buffalo Trace Distillery. This bourbon is made with Mash Bill #2, a sour mash of corn, malted barley, and extra rye. After, it's aged in White Oak casks. The nose on this single barrel is profound, with sweet aromas of caramel mingled with flavorful notes of vanilla, nutmeg, lemon, and bright orange citrus. The palate features subtle hints of honey, harmoniously balanced with caramel and corn. The finish is warm with undertones of corn, vanilla, and nutmeg.

History
Blanton's Original Single Barrel is best known as "liquid gold"! It was produced in 1984 under the guidance of Elmer T. Lee, Master distiller at the George T. Stagg Distillery, now known as the famous Buffalo Trace Distillery. There he worked with Colonel Albert Bacon Blanton, the President of the Distillery from 1921-1951. During the time he worked for him, he noticed that whenever there were ambassadors, dignitaries, and Colonel Blanton's family and friends, he would always choose a bottle aged at warehouse H at Buffalo Trace. Which is the only metal-clad warehouse at the distillery, built shortly after prohibition. Being metal meant it created a lot of temperature fluctuation because the metal doesn't insulate and would change how the whisky aged. They are aged 6-8 years and have a higher rye content. Blanton's is all about quality and only produces a limited amount, which is what makes them so hard to obtain. In 1999, there were eight different horse stoppers added to the bottles of Blanton's. Each stopper has a letter circled on the lower left side to spell out “B-L-A-N-T-O-N'-S.” After, lined up the stoppers display different positions of a horse race. They are visible upon purchase, even though some letters are hard to find. Blanton assures fans that it produces the same number of each, every year. Blanton's found overseas will be 700 ml, while domestic releases are 750 ml.

Awful

Okay, first of all, I bought this bottle for my husband for his birthday. We visited the actual distillery earlier this year when in Lexington, and he bought a bottle there directly from the source, that he's still getting through but really enjoys. So I decided to get him another one. Right away, something was suspicious when it arrived. The outside of the bottle was slick/sticky, like whiskey had been spilled over it. I shelved my reservations and went ahead and wrapped it. Last week, when he opened it, he was at first elated but then started inspecting the bottle. The seal was cracked, for one, which jived with the sticky/wet bottle that had arrived. Then he looked closer. The bottle was similar to the one he bought directly from the distillery, but not identical despite being the same product. It was slightly smaller, leaner, and had what appeared to be a sticker for a different brand that hadn't been entirely scraped off. He believes the bottle is a forgery and isn't going to try it, as it could be anything. I did reach out to BottleBuzz with my issues but thus far haven't heard back and have opened a dispute with PayPal. If we hadn't visited the distillery earlier this year, we might not have been able to identify the differences, but we did, and we did. My kudos to everyone who has had a good experience, but I'll never spend money here again. Even if the bottle isn't a full forgery, I've experienced just appalling service all the way around.

Plastic seal broken

The shipping was great. The bottle was nicely packaged however the plastic ring on the Blantons was broken. I understand if the wax seal is broken but the plastic one was so there’s really no telling what I’m drinking. Not just that but if you want to buy broken seal Blantons it’s at a discount. It was a gift but since said seal was broken I decided to keep it for myself.
