History
BOLS Apricot Flavored Brandy was crafted by the Bols family, who began their liqueur production in a small Amsterdam distillery called 't Lootsje. Lucas Bols, the grandson of the founder, was born in 1669. By 1700, he became a major shareholder in the Dutch East India Company, gaining access to exotic herbs and spices that inspired over 300 liqueur and spirit recipes. His vision led to the global distribution of Bols liqueurs. Lucas Bols passed away in 1719, leaving a rich legacy. The family also pioneered the distillation of Dutch genever, which became a key ingredient in early cocktail culture. The world's first cocktail recipe book, published in 1862, featured several recipes using genever, showcasing its significance in mixology. In 1883, Bols began aging genevers in French Limousin oak casks, leading to the creation of the Bols Genever Barrel Aged recipe, which was relaunched globally in 2010, continuing the family’s tradition of innovation.
