History
The Carthusian monks have been producing Chartreuse liqueurs since 1764, with Yellow Chartreuse introduced in 1840 as a milder alternative to the original Green version. The recipe, derived from a manuscript given to the monks in 1605, remains a closely guarded secret, known only to two monks at any given time. This rich heritage and the meticulous crafting process contribute to the liqueur's esteemed reputation worldwide.
