History
El Jolgorio Cuixe Joven Mezcal is produced with wild maguey which grows in a cylindrical, stalk-shaped pina, with leaves spreading at the top. It is often slightly smaller than Madrecuishe, but more dense. This Mezcal has an earthy scent, like wet clay, and a complex flavor profile that reflects the unique terroir of Oaxaca. It is one of nine unique spirits produced in villages in Oaxaca, Mexico, where artisanal methods have been preserved for generations. The production process involves local indigenous Zapotec techniques, where Master Distillers carefully oversee the wild-harvested agave. Each batch is twice distilled in traditional copper pot stills, enhancing its distinct character. On every bottle is inscribed the species of agave, the age at harvest, the village of production, the name of the Master Distiller, and the batch and lot number, truly connecting the drinker with the land, people, and plants at the heart and soul of our mezcal.
