Michter's US1 Kentucky Straight Rye is crafted with tradition in mind at the Michter's Distillery in Louisville, Kentucky, reflecting a long-standing dedication to producing exceptional American whiskey. This journey began in the 18th century when John Shenk, a Swiss Mennonite farmer, settled near Pennsylvania's Blue Mountain Valley. He transformed his surplus grains into whiskey, creating what would become the United States' first distilling company. Michter's US1 Rye is made from a carefully selected mash of rye grains, fermented and distilled with precision. Aged in charred American oak barrels, it undergoes a unique heat-cycled maturation process that enhances its flavor profile, imparting notes of citrus and caramel.
