History
Emperor Norton Absinthe Dieu Small Batch crafted this unique spirit to commemorate America's first and only Emperor. It is produced with 100% California grapes, which Mater distiller Raff, distills with absinthe's three traditional ingredients grand wormwood, anise and fennel seed, before adding Roman wormwood, hyssop and lemon balm. The result is an absinthe reminiscent of absinthes served in Paris, which Raff fills and labels each bottle by hand. The custom of drinking Absinthe is often called la fée verte, or the "green fairy"which gradually became popular in bars, cafés, and cabarets. During the 1860s, when it became 5 p.m. it was called l'heure verte, or the "green hour".
