History
Handy & Schiller Barreled Old Fashioned Cocktail is a unique spirit is crafted using Sazerac Rye Whiskey, Vermouth and Peychaud's Bitters. It is the perfect marriage of a balanced, flavorful Manhattan cocktail and the spicy vanilla oak of Sazerac Rye barrels. It was produced by John Schiller and Thomas Handy. Schiller, a bartender working in New York, found his way to New Orleans and by 1860 who was operating the world-famous Sazerac Coffeehouse in the French Quarter. Handy, a native of Maryland, was working for Schiller at the coffeehouse. Handy later went on to establish a successful importing and wholesale liquor business. Handy and Schiller's roles in the early days of New Orleans' cocktails would serve as inspiration for over 150 years of libations in one of America's most unique cities.
