Pierre Ferrand Grande Champagne Cognac Original 1840 Formula is the original Formula, however is not a johnny come lately but is a Grand Champagne Cognac based on an original “three star” designated Cognac produced (the equivalent to today’s V.S. designation) back in 1840. The original bottle of Pinet Castillion Cognac on which Original Formula is based was blended and distilled for use as a mixer in cocktails. The Pierre Ferrand 1840 Original Formula was crafted with an ambition to recreate the type of cognac pioneer bartenders like Jerry Thomas, Harry Johnson, and Leo Engel would have employed for crafting their timeless juleps, cocktails, crustas, and punches. With a base inspired by the rare 19th-century Pinet-Castillon Cognac from 1840, this blend is aimed at mirroring the cognacs used in cocktails and punches during that era.
