History
Xicaru Silver 102o Mezcal is a unique tequila in the way it is distilled. A narrower cut is taken from the heart, where the alcohol, smoke, and agave are more concentrated. Xicaru Silver and Xicaru Silver 102° both utilize traditional mezcal production methods passed down from generation to generation. Xicaru, the Zapotec word for beautiful, reflects Fernando Santibanez’s desire to share a traditionally produced mezcal that is approachable and distinct. Using his grandmother’s recipe, Fernando makes small batches of Xicaru Mezcal with time-honored methods at a palenque in Matatlan, Oaxaca. This dedication to craftsmanship ensures that each bottle encapsulates the rich cultural heritage of the region, showcasing the flavors and aromas that are characteristic of high-quality mezcal. The result is a spirit that not only honors tradition but also invites enthusiasts to experience the essence of Oaxaca in every sip.
